A few pictures of Kosice

During our stay in Kosice, we had a single day of clear weather. I used it as most as I could, meaning just after breakfast before catching a tram to go to work. Anyway, here are a couple pictures that I took that morning in the pedestrian area.

The first picture here on the left is Elisabeth’s Cathedral, unfortunately currently in renovation so completely covered with cloth on the left side. On the right side, a statue of the Virgin Mary in the “Hlavná ulica”, Kosice’s main street.

Here under a museum at the cross roads of multiple tram lines. I don’t know which museum though…

Below is St. Michael’s Chapel, located just behind the Elisabeth Cathedral, a very strange chapel, very tall for its size but cute in a way!

And beside all the pictures I could take of USSR Block’s Architecture Style Buildings that’s pretty much all interesting the pictures I could take in those few days over there… sad isn’t it?

News from Slovakia

Short news from further east:

After a smooth drive from Nürnberg to Prag and a short flight during which we had the chance to admire a splendid view of the High Tatras (here on google maps) and during which my bag was broken and my TSA-Lock stolen (a colleague got his stolen as well), we arrived in Kosice, Slovakia.

Since it is a business trip I did not see much of the city itself by daylight but the old USSR mark is very visible through high block buildings surrounding the whole city. I’d like to goof around and visit some of the gorgeous churches we walked by at night but I fear we won’t have time (I’m even starting to wonder if I will be able to find an hour to go shopping for a travel bag). It’s very strange to see some very old trams, busses and trains beside the same brand new cars that we see everywhere in our streets.

Work itself is doing good. It’s nice to finally meet the guys I’ve been working remotely with for almost 5 months now. Now that they all realized that I’m the youngest in the team I have to be careful and defend my position as a Technical Lead but I made a good impression during the first 4 months when they simply did not know so I have the feeling it’s doing good. ;)

It surprised me that the prices here are exactly the same as in Germany, which is really strange given that the average salaries are about half of what we get there.

Well, no more to write something, I’ve got to run to some meetings, enjoy!
