Question for my mobile readers

I just activated the plugin WPTouch that changes the display of WordPress for Mobile Phones to something way easier to read/navigate. I find it really useful on the iPhone but I’d be glad to know what you think of it. So step out of your RSS readers, have a look at it and express yourself ;)

Les grands esprits se rencontrent… by the way how can we translate this in English ? Auf Deutsch ? ^^

I just did that yesterday. So either we had the same idea at the same moment (cf. above) or you copied me… :D

In any case I won’t be able to tell you what it looks like because I don’t browse the internet with my phone…

@Ed: didn’t jump from my RSS reader to your site since my last comment but glad to know the plugin is successful. As for the expression… no idea.

    Thanks Kai&Greg!

Euh… Suis pas sûr de voir la différence avec avant sous WinMo… Pocket Explorer essayé, OK (comme avant?) Oh crap, forgot to write in English…

Under Pocket Explorer (the elder), I don’t think it looks different. With Opera Mini, the same: the page is first rendered as a kind of thumbnail, then close-up.

If you don’t see any difference, then you’re not on the mobile version, it’s (almost) totally diffrent there.

It’s working great (even if it’s a pain to write in english from an iPhone configured in french with auto-correction)
We just loose thé visual identity of your website (which is totally standard as you use the default theme anyway)

Hum… Tim, then I would say it’s especially oriented for the iPhone (putting aside the other Java/WinMo cell phones).

  • Tim says:

That was exactly the purpose of my question ;)

I just updated the post with a screenshot for those who cannot see it!

Wow! It looks like a RSS reader or something close to that… I should try with the Opera Java but either with Pocket Internet Explorer (before Windows Mobile 6.5) and Opera Mini, no way we have that. Maybe the developer should look for some generic way of mobile browsing. Possibly he took only “Safari blahblah” and period. Tss Tss Tss :)
