Mary’s Dream

It’s been a while since I first heard of Mary’s Dream… mostly because Corentin, the cello/guitar player of the band, is a good friend of mine.

I kept on receiving notices of their concerts in Paris without ever finding the opportunity to get there so I patiently waited for more… and it just happened. Their first CD was released in French stores a few days ago (September 28th to be exact) and is also to be found on iTunes. Don’t run away you German readers, only 2 songs of the 14 that the album contains are in French, the rest is in English. Sweet melodies, pretty nice vocals and great instrumental balance… it’s worth giving it a try, I promise! Just listen to the few songs that are to be found on their MySpace page and let me know.

Seaside-Tryptich

Since we did not do much for the Tag der Deutschen no-celebration day, I used the spare time to finish reviewing my summer and weekend pictures. In between two wedding, I found some nice pictures to share with you, starting with some macros smelling like seaside.

Shellfish on both sides, raw salt from the salt marshes of Noirmoutier (Britany, France). What do you think of it?

Tag der Deutschen no-celebration day!

ddr
I don’t know what I was expecting… Not much… but a bit more than nothing I guess.

20 years ago, Germany became one again, we all saw the pictures & the movies. Today, 20 years later, I did not find any official celebration to attend to in Nuernberg, any event to observe, nothing. The “19-o’clock” news was just as depressing as usual, with no more than 4 minutes about the official celebrations in Berlin.

I thought that such a revolution would be heavily celebrated… but no, it’s almost as if everything was normal. Yesterday on the news, a couple of “wise” (yeah ok, “old”) persons interrogated in the street were talking with wet eyes about their memories of the day the wall felt… but today? nothing.

A couple of months ago we were invited to an “Ossi”-party, and I was almost shocked to discover (silly me to have thought otherwise actually) that half of Mlle V.’s friends were raised East of the wall. It seems to me that even if some persons of our generation saw the “Mauer” colapse, there is only one Germany: it was, should have been and is this way now; end of the discussion, no need to party over this…

I still have a lot to understand about this country now, don’t I?

Edit: After reading this, Mlle V. made it a holy quest to find us somewhere to party -just a bit- we’ll be meeting some friends for a beer (or two) in a moment… but still!
